Three Word meditation

by Robert Felix

God creates us with both logic and emotions.
Life becomes a series of choices between one or the other.
Three-Word Meditation brings balance to both.

The principle that gives Three-Word Meditation its authority is its use of the power of partnerships between prayer and meditation. These partnerships are as simple as combining your ability to talk and listen. We use our talking abilities in the form of introspective prayer whenever we explore our dualistic challenges. We then use our listening skills in the form of meditation where we invite the guidance of God's Pure Love. These partnerships represent the coming together of the two separate yet equal forces of prayer and meditation. Here, they are called "partners" because they bring together the dual aspects of "talking" prayer with "listening" meditation. They are also "within" because they are unique to you, and you and your personal God are the only ones who could possibly understand your personal journey. They assist you in the structuring of your life so that you can function at your best.

They are used for personal growth, physical and emotional health, social awareness, and the greater good.

In the Western hemisphere of our globe, this "duality" has become commonly recognized as the divide between the thoughts of the "head" and the feelings of the "heart." In the Eastern hemisphere, it is referred to as "yin" and "yang," or the potentially harmonious interplay of the opposites of the universe. The prayer aspect of these partnerships is structured by the logical/verbal features of your brain. The meditation is the functioning aspect of your emotional/creative self. Therefore, to use this technique, you simply partner together your thoughts with your feelings. Think about how many times you are of "two minds" about some of the dilemmas you face in your daily life. The philosophy of Three-Word Meditation is designed to bridge these gaps.

From mainstream psychiatric practice to the cutting edge of empowerment theory, this dualistic theory of reality has now been widely accepted. When opposing forces stop competing for self-gratification, and agree to support and enable each other, then these potential partners begin working together, helping you to make more balanced decisions and your motives wiser and more insightful. The result will be the growth of more harmonious, mutually supportive skills. This method can be used to fosters partnerships between all of the major dualistic challenges of humanity.

Prayer

Prayer has long been associated with the religious traditions of the Western hemisphere of the world. It is the talking aspect of human nature and its traditional goal is to talk to a Higher Source. Here, the structure of prayer is used as a guide to an introspection process that helps you uncover the unique way in which you look at the world and how you make sense of it. Some of the areas where it fosters greater communication and insight are in the differences between your analytical and intuitive skills, your past and present, your private and social worlds, and your realities and ideals.

In this prayer step, you will want to let your thoughts flow freely between all aspects of your personality. This is where you will explore the different features of your dualistic nature through the use of personal introspection. Where you might commonly find concern at this stage is in the discovery of how the experiences of your past may differ with your perception of reality. Other times you may uncover different motives behind your logic and your emotions. Sometimes conflicts arise from an imbalance between your wants and needs. Frequently, you will discover disturbances between yourself and the other people that are involved in your life. After you have discovered a source of concern or conflicting goals between your dualities, do not judge, just accept the difference as part of your human journey. Then you get ready for meditation. With this method you simply offer your concerns or goals up to the solutions of God's Pure Love through the use of meditation.

Meditation

Meditation evolved in the Eastern hemisphere from the need to become quiet and to listen to the more subtle energies of the universe in order to receive knowledge and insight. It was thought that this listening might show a path to enlightenment and for thousands of years the practice has brought countless generations to the holistic/creative aspects of human nature. Eastern meditation techniques stem from many sources across the continent, and entire religions have been founded on subtle differences of meditation goals and practices. There is, however, an overall emphasis on excluding the mental-verbal "voice" from meditation, or the inner monologues by which we "hear ourselves" think. The limitation of this method for many Westerners is that few have the time to train themselves to meditate with the deep subliminal feelings that many Easterners, trained from birth, are able to achieve. But the popularity of many gurus and Eastern inspired masters testifies to Western public's thirst for the self-help knowledge that seems to be within the grasp of meditation.

The Partnerships of Prayer and Meditation

Three-Word Meditation is a partnership between the thoughts of prayer and the feelings of meditation. It is a two-step process. In the first step, the first two words of each Three-Word Meditation are used to stimulate your introspection abilities into the most common dualistic challenges of human nature. By voicing them, you gain insight into how the contrasting aspects of your personality maybe competing with each other. Prayer activates the active talking side of your personality that expresses the voice of your innermost concerns and goals. It allows you to gain insight into how you are influenced by all of the potentially conflicting aspects of your personality.

In the second step, the third words of each Three-Word Meditation are used as a guide to the subtle feelings of Pure Love that are available through meditation. You achieve this state by meditating with Chakras, colors, and a pure white light. This is how you resolve your challenges and achieve your goals. This is where you will find the pros, cons, compromises, and solutions to your innermost concerns. The results are the answers that help you analyze problems, prioritize goals, and assist you in going forward with your life.

In the modern, global marketplace of the 21st century, the time is ripe for combining these traditions in order to create new, more effective practices. Three-Word Meditation offers an easy method that shows you how to bring the best of prayer together with the best of meditation. When your thoughts enter into the realm of prayer, you stimulate your ability to analyze the difference between right and wrong, good and bad. When your feelings enter into the subtle universe of meditation, you inspire your ability to intuit the difference between love and fear, trust and doubt. When prayer and meditation are partnered together, a bridge is built between all of your dualistic challenges. This is how the partnerships of prayer and meditation help you to choose what is best for both yourself and others. And whenever your thoughts and feelings work together for the benefit of all, you will have found a pathway to the Highest Source: the Divine Love and Logic of the universe.

Each of the ten Three-Word Meditations is introduced in the Introduction page. Please feel free to go to that part and try a practice. Each addresses a major challenge of humanity and advanced practitioners of meditation may want to get started right away. Beginners may want to study one practice at a time. In the subscribe here section you will see how these "partners within" use the dualities of human nature in order to fuel the trinities of the "me," the "you," and the "we." Then you will be in a better position to understand and maximize the "four functions" of your body, mind, heart, and soul.

Robert C. Felix has researched and practiced the world's wisdom traditions for over fifty years. In the 1950's he first realized there was something missing in the churches of his family. Their method of teaching spirituality did not work for him nor did it seem to be working for other people in his community. Thus began his search for a better way to approach the Pure Love he intuited existed somewhere in the universe.By the 1970's, through a personal commitment to seeking solutions, the harmonious opposites of the universe were becoming apparent to him. However, the potentially wondrous power of this duality appeared to be woefully absent in most people's lives.

It was in the 1980's that Felix had an epiphany and soon thereafter the spiritual powers of the color spectrum of the sun were being revealed to him. During the 1990's he become a specialist in merging the theologies of Western prayer with Eastern meditation and pioneered the Three Word Meditation approach.

In 2000, he published his first book, The Partners Within.
