Americans Buying Retirement Homes in Costa Ri

by Lance Winslow

Many Americans and expatriates are moving the Costa Rica and buying retirement homes because the cost of living is much less there. Many Americans are reporting back that their property values are going up due to the influx of new people moving into the areas. Although the infrastructure is trying to catch up with the huge migration to Costa Rica it is a beautiful country to live in.

Will it be over developed by Americans and American influences? Some of the new developments are now advertising on television homes starting at the hundred at $130,000 however it was not more than five years ago the same piece of property and home might only be $30,000.

It is interesting that people are willing to give up all there is in America although some say after retirement they may not be able to afford to live where they are now due to the increasing cost of living and to this is something that certainly we have been warned about by the Federal Reserve; Inflation.

For those on a fixed income they often see this as a possible option and although it may be a little risky living in another country if they are surrounded by other Americans they feel safer. The economy in Costa Rica is obviously also changing very rapidly as the influx of Americans and their appetite for more is certainly driving many local industries especially in the service sector. Perhaps you might consider this in 2006.
