Don't Shop For A Laptop Yet

by Dave Westin

Buying a laptop can be a very frustrating experience if you don't have it well planned. There are many different companies offering tons of different options. Sifting through them all and trying to find the best priced laptop can be exhausting. There are some great tips to follow if you are trying to work with a budget, but still want a great computer.

The first thing you need to do is make a list of things that you need. The best way to this is make a list before you have shopped around becuase this will help you keep in mind what you wanted before you get enticed by features. There are three main categories to consider when you are listing your needs. The size of the laptop is the best place to start your search. Large screens look very nice, but do you need it. The screen size will affect the overall size of the laptop and will considerably affect the price. If you will be traveling, smaller computers are lighter and much easier to fit in a carry on suitcase. It is also much easier to use a small laptop while traveling.

Another factor that can be very important is the battery capacity. Laptops can burn a lot of energy and there are one designed to last longer on a similar battery. The more energy efficient ones will have slightly slower performance, but todays technology has made this a very small difference in speed. There is also the option of purchasing an extra battery if you are worried about running out of power.

Finally, the newest category to consider is connectablity. This includes options like wireless network cards and inputs for other devices. Some airports offer wireless internet access if you have a card. There are also Bluetooth enable laptops that can connect wirelessly to your cell phone to send emails or faxes. Whatever you think you may need, they probably have an option for it. Just remember that option will inflate the price quickly. Choose only what you need and you can save a bundle on you next laptop.
