Letter to My Mother
Life's Demons

You’re Son

by Mellissa Floyd

This is dedicated to a family who is close to everyone here at Wongaa.

And to all our Men and Women who so valiantly defend our country,
sometimes sacrificing everything.

Loosing someone is not easy to take

When I lost my mother my heart it did break

It seems like you will not make it through

But I'm living proof that with time you do

I do not know what its like to lose a son

But loosing my mother weighed more than a ton

It feels like the pain will not go away

I still think of her every day

I am not going to tell you that you'll get over it fast

You will never get over it, it will always last

Just keep your son very close to your heart

As long as he's there you'll never be apart

Think of the good things that he has done

Think of all the battles that he has won

He was over there fighting for you

Keeping you safe from what he went through

He will always be with you

He will never leave your side

He will always be in you thoughts

He will always be in your mind

As the time goes on you will learn to cope

Look at your other children and you will find your hope

He needs your strength hold your head up high

Remember I will be here for if you need to cry

He is now in a better place

Now God is looking upon his face

I'm sure there's a reason he had to go

What the reason is we do not know

Any reason that could be given we would not accept

It does not replace the life we could have kept

I know you will miss him; you'll want to hold him real tight

But think of the memories don't let them out of your sight

Hold on to every single memory you can

And always remember your son is a great man
