Let's Dance

by Bob Roach

There is something about a dance,

that makes the world seem right.

Far away from the real world,

away from struggles or fright.

You can't really explain it,

although it is much like a dream.

The two of us in a bubble,

as if we were a team.

The dream goes on,

the night is young.

And we are united.

We are one.

No desire to sit just yet,

we truly are taking a chance.

Two have met and become one,

not love but surely romance.

One step, two step

My mind is in a spin.

Just moving to the feeling,

like clouds in the wind.

The music must be rhythmic,

the beverage, that of choice.

It seems like when I dance,

it gives me a special voice.

A voice to say who I am,

to say that I am free.

To say that at this moment

anyone can I be.

It seems to be just the two of us,

the lights are very low.

No one else in our universe,

just moving to and fro.

My heart is beating faster,

I did not know I could feel this way.

I wish this moment could last forever,

forever and a day.

But when the dance is over,

and reality must set in.

I dream about the dancing

as I join the world again.
