Mini Spanish Course - Lesson 2 of 20

by Perriann Rodriguez

Spanish Weeks and Months

Today, we will go over some basic Spanish Vocabulary. When you are learning the Spanish language, you must practice aloud and memorize not only the pronunciation, but also what the words mean.

There are many Spanish courses available today to speed up you learning. Even DVD or audio tapes are offered so that you can learn Spanish while you are sitting in your car. This is a very effective use of your time.

Now, let's move on to lesson 2 of our Mini Spanish Course. Today we will learn the days of the week and months of the year. These words contain only one sound (the j) not found in the numbers covered in lesson 1. In Spanish the j is pronounced like a strong English h.

Days of the week:

Sunday domingo (doh-meen-goh)

Monday lunes (loo-nays)

Tuesday martes (mahr-tays)

Wednesday miércoles (miécoles)

Thursday jueves (hway-vays)

Friday viernes (vyayr-nays)

Saturday sábado (sah-bah-doh)

Months of the year:

January enero (ay-nay-roh)

February febrero (fay-bray-roh)

March marzo (mahr-soh)

April abril (ah-breel)

May mayo (mah-yoh)

June junio (hoo-nyoh)

July julio (hoo-lyoh)

August agosto (ah-gos-toh)

September septiembre (say-tyaym-bray)

October octubre (ok-too-bray)

November noviembre (noh-vyaym-bray)

December diciembre (dee-syaym-bray)

Again, it is very important that you say practice Spanish out loud. Repetition is the best way to get these words and pronunciations into your memory. Lesson 3 will cover more Spanish numbers.
